Jennie Mortimer

About me!

My name is Jennie Mortimer, and I am a Melbourne-based Performing artist. I have studied singing, acting, and dancing extensively, and I also work as a vocal coach and mentor to emerging performers.

I graduated from Trinity College London with a Diploma in Musical Theatre and voice, and completed my dance training at the Dance Factory in Melbourne. I love sharing my gift of song with Australian audiences. I do this by performing a diverse range of contemporary, cabaret and musical theatre repertoire suitable for all ages. It’s a passion of mine that I’ve designed to bring joy to all.

The best part is seeing people's faces light up when I perform a piece that brings back a special memory for them. The Australian audience is very supportive, and I enjoy bringing entertainment to all. It's a special feeling for me to see people happy and appreciative of my art form.

As an actor, I love to explore strong female characters with interesting backgrounds. I see the female character as a hero and a role model for the audience rather than a victim. I like characters based on Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, English actors such as Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, and Australian actors such as Rebecca Gibney, Essie Davis, and Judy Davis.

I help casting directors fill the gaps with opportunities for strong female roles, inspiring audiences of all ages and leaving them with a positive outcome, intelligent, resilient, fierce, brave, and gutsy and uncompromising. I like to create a woman who comes from the ashes and conquers her demons and wins in the end.
